Gas and Taylor Swift?

Those two things really don't have anything in common. At least I don't think so. Ha! Starting Monday, March 30th we will be doing FUEL OR NO FUEL again in the 7am hour. Thanks to Sheetz and Sheetz Brothers Coffee. Plus, we have Taylor Swift tickets to give to you all for her October 1st show. Plus, the usual Buckhead and Bubba in the morning antics. Bubba will be back from vacation and I will once again have to STRUGGLE to talk, get a word in edgewise, clearly think and try really hard to not smell how stinky he is! Hee Hee. Enjoy this weekend folks. Thanks for always listening to B94!

What Are Your Thoughts?

So, I'm getting ready to head to a B94 St. Patty's Day gathering for our staff and I came downstairs to find breaking NEWS on my computer about another Chris Brown story. His rep has spoke out and his name has been withdrawn from the upcoming March 28th Kids Choice Awards. Here is the statement.. "Chris very much appreciates the support of his fans and the honor they have paid him in the way of nominations for Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated. While Chris would like to speak to his fans directly about this and other issues, pending legal proceedings preclude his doing so at this time. Once the matter before him has been resolved, he intends to do so." On that February 8th night of the alleged incident with him and girlfriend Rihanna..things have spiraled in the media about the two of them "big time" since then. What do you feel about the whole situation? Email me @ melanie@b94.com. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm in the media, so at times we must stay biased on situations, but this time it is HARD. No man..NO man should ever hit a woman for whatever reason. Period. If Rihanna takes him back is she the wrong one? Since there is talk they are both recording a song together now...is that not a wise choice? I'm sure you all have your personal opinions. Don't we all? On a happier note..HAPPY HUMP DAY..Friday is around the corner!

No Doubt Baby!

Starting March 2nd on the show with Buckhead and Bubba we got some GREAT stuff for ya as always. No Doubt will be coming to the Post Gazette Pavilion on June 13th and tickets don't go on sale until March 7th. We have tickets for you to win! Monday March 2nd we will start with 5th row seats for the concert. Tuesday 4th row. Wednesday 3rd row.....etc! You get the point right?? So, Gwen Stefani, Tony Kanal (Gwen's ex man..they still make music together amicably), Tom Dumont and Adrian Young will be in the 'Burgh. Gwen is a mom, wife, designer and singer. She rocks. I wonder if Kingston or Zuma will be on tour with her..her 2 young sons? She has that hottie hubby Gavin Rossdale too. Check out "Gossip Girl" on Pittsburgh's CW on May 11th. Mark it down now if you are big fans of No Doubt, Gossip Girl or BOTH. They will perform an Adam Ant song called "Stand and Deliver" on the show that night. It is cool to see No Doubt do a tour. We all know Gwen took some time off to be a Mom and to do her own solo stuff. But, the band resurfaces and it will be a great show! Listen for your chance to win! Posted by Melanie :)

Great Steeler Article

We know...we know...the Superbowl is over and WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS. But, I was sent this awesome article from a Florida paper from numerous friends that found it circulating the internet. It is a few weeks dated, but worth the read. Read and enjoy! By MIKE BIANCHI First published in print: Monday, February 2, 2009 TAMPA , Fla. — One of the heroes of the game nearly became a bus driver. The owner of the team walks to work every day. The fans of the team drink Iron City beer, wave dish towels and ignored the slumping economy to make their pigskin pilgrimage and turn the Super Bowl into a Sunshine State version of the Steel City. This is why we should all be glad that Pittsburgh is now the home of more Super Bowl championships than any franchise in the history of pro football: Because the players are hungry, the owner is humble and the fans are loyal. What more could you want out of the NFL's champion of champions? And what more could you want from a Super Bowl? From Jennifer Hudson's remarkable rendition of the national anthem Sunday to the Boss bringing down the house at halftime to Santonio Holmes making one of the greatest catches in NFL history for the winning touchdown with 35 seconds left, this will go down as a Super Bowl for the ages. The Steelers, by virtue of their unbelievable, inconceivable 27-23 defeat of the Arizona Cardinals, have now won a record sixth Super Bowl and their second in four years. They are a small-market team that doesn't pay big-time salaries and yet they continue to win ... and win ... and win. In these trying economic times, how can you not feel good that it's the Steelers who have become the model franchise in all of professional sports. Some other of the NFL's other dynastic franchises have come and gone , but the Steelers just keep coming. The Green Bay Packers? They haven't won a Super Bowl in more than a decade. The San Francisco 49ers? They haven't had a winning season in six years and haven't been to a Super Bowl in 15. The Dallas Cowboys? They make headlines because their quarterback dates Jessica Simpson and their wide receiver is a team cancer, but they haven't won a playoff game in a dozen years. In contrast, Pittsburgh's quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is the youngest quarterback (26) to ever win two Super Bowls, and the only controversy star wide receiver Hines Ward has been involved in is that opposing defenses complain that he plays too physical. The Steelers are the New York Yankees of the NFL—without the arrogance and the payroll. George Steinbrenner buys championships; the Rooney family builds them. Every one of Pittsburgh's star players—Roethlisberger, Troy Polamalu, Willie Parker, Hines Ward and James Harrison—were either drafted by the team or discovered off the street. Harrison , with his spectacular 100-yard interception return at the end of the first half, made one the greatest plays in Super Bowl history Sunday. He was undrafted out of college, signed as a rookie free agent by the Steelers in 2002 and nearly quit football during his struggling early years to become a Greyhound bus driver. This is why the Steelers should be celebrated. They win without the knuckleheads that dot so many professional rosters. As great a story as it was for the New York Giants to upset the undefeated Patriots in last year's Super Bowl, the star of that Giants team was knucklehead wide receiver Plaxico Burress. Yes, the same Burress who couldn't cut it in Pittsburgh because Pittsburgh doesn't tolerate knuckleheads. When Burress left town, the Steelers simply drafted Holmes and plugged him into Burress' spot. They were rewarded Sunday. With 35 seconds left, Roethlisberger drilled the ball into triple coverage in the corner of the end zone. Somehow, Holmes was able to come down with the ball and barely get both of his tippy-toes in bounds for the touchdown. This is the Steelers, a franchise built on patience and principal. Is it any wonder President Barack Obama made the unusual move of endorsing Pittsburgh this week? Proof positive that if you can't appreciate the Pittsburgh Steelers, you are simply un-American. Snowman and Angel

Thank goodness I didn't have to do snow angels in my lingerie when Intern Beaker and I had the Baltimore Raven/Steeler bet on the score of the game. Jeff Reed decided Beaker lost and he did the stunt. You can see it right online here at the website. Today I did snow angels with my little girl Quinn. Look at the perfect snow angel and snowman she made. I helped with the snowman. I realized how bad I am today at building a snowman. I never got better since my childhood. As I was just about ready to complain more about how bad my snowman was...a man rolled up in his car on my street. He rolled down his window...left his car running...got out and began to make the BIGGEST snowball ever to help my weak snowman. He rolled and rolled and rolled it as we just stared at him in wonderment. He fixed what I had created and made it look so much better. As my little girl began jumping up and down in joy...I looked at the man and said.."Thanks Dad!" Gotta love the folks coming to the rescue when you just plain STINK at building a snowman. HA! He rode by at the perfect time!

Steeler Pride!

If there is one thing about Pittsburgh..it is that we have the most DIE HARD crazy Steeler fans. With the AFC championship game this Sunday...all hell could break loose if we win and head to the Superbowl. Think ahead. Dream with me for a moment. Tampa. Superbowl 43. Superbowl win number 6. The only NFL team to do that. Okay..don't jump the gun. Steeler fans know not to think too far in advance and "jinx" anything. One game at a time. One win at a time. Tomorrow join Buckhead and Bubba in the morning and the WHOLE B94 staff broadcasting live from 6am-6pm at Towne Center in the Southside Works for the BIRD BASH! We will be smashing a Balti-moron-obile and having fun broadcasting live. Jeff Reed will be stopping down. Fun to be had by all! Go Steelers! Here is a cute internet poem I'll post that has been circulating! Our Father, Who Art in Pittsburgh, Football Be Thy Game. The Kingdom Come, 5 Super Bowls Won, On Earth as it is in Heinz Field. Give us this Day a playoff Victory, And forgive us our penalties, As we defeat those who play against us. But lead us into a victory, And deliver us to Tampa! A-Ben Go STEELERS
